A collaboration with Hampshire Cultural Trust & CAMHS

I was delighted to be commissioned to work on a community project with Hampshire Cultural Trust & CAMHS creating a collaborative installation to transform space in the Eastleigh clinic. The project began with a site visit, exploring the clinical space and area had to work with, from this, I began to see how the installation could work as a journey piece up the stairwell.

Illustrated Window Murals in collaboration with Hampshire Cultural Trust

I was delighted to be commissioned by Hampshire Cultural Trust to design and illustrate a 10-window arts trail across Gosport High Street. I took inspiration from the maritime history of the town to design colourful underwater motifs that worked across 10 different shaped windows, in each of the window murals I included a small vintage diver for members of the public to find as they enjoyed the trail along the high street.

Hosting a Hen do Craft Workshop

Back in March, I was delighted to be booked to host a private craft workshop at a Hen Do just a few miles down the road from me. The group had booked a lovely house to accommodate themselves for the Hen do weekend and when they got in touch were in the initial stages of planning out activities for their 3-day celebration, I chatted through some workshop ideas and options with the bridesmaids and we decided candle painting and clay would be a great way to for everyone to get creative and also have something handmade to take home from the workshop.

Nature to inspire during the Winter months

Whilst there may not seem as though there is much to be inspired by outside at the moment, there is actually plenty of nature to find and appreciate during these late winter months if you look a little closer. In my Celebrating Winter 4 week course we are focusing on exactly this, looking a little deeper to find pops of colour with rose hip buds, catkins, berried ivy, hellebores and even some early blooming daffodils, blossom and snowdrops. It’s not just the more colourful nature that can spark inspiration but the shapes, textures and movement of dried grasses, interesting branches and trailing dried clematis which is one of my favourites in the Winter, it’s perfectly frothy, magical and wonderfully wild…

Love lettering

In next month’s Celebrating the Seasons workshops we are not only embracing the nature of the season but also the celebration of love ready for the 14th, and it doesn’t have to be romantic love, why not celebrate friendships, family, or great work pals that you love with a special card… it might just brighten someone’s day.

So in the spirit of card giving, which I think is always the best part of any celebration, I’m running a workshop session focused on brush lettering and envelope decoration…

How Nature Journaling helped me to embrace Winter

Around 4 years ago I began Nature Journaling and over the last few years I have been creatively experimenting and working out my journaling style, something that I have actually found is ever changing, but I have settled on some definite styles that I tend to embrace and use most frequently. It began as a way of me being creative that had no ‘endpoint,’ I found I was often racing to get a finished piece and I wanted to find a creative way to enjoy the process. Nature Journaling has turned into one of my most creative practices, it is something that helps me slow down, appreciate nature with a sense of gratitude and allows me to embrace each season for all its magic… including Winter!

Window mural for ASK Italian

I was delighted to be commissioned to design and illustrate a festive window mural for ASK Italian to celebrate the Christmas season this year in my local City of Winchester.

On planning the mural, I took a trip down to ASK to have a look at the space that I would be working with for the illustration piece, I took a few photos and spoke to the team about how they wanted the ideas to work before heading back to my studio to get to work on a draft idea. Taking inspiration from the brand guidelines which included town houses, stars, sparkle and love, I wanted to draw on the housing element to create the base for my scene before adding my own personal touch with some nature elements alongside the sparkle and magic.

Paper cut Autumn wreath

Following on from sharing this wreath on Instagram this week I wanted to pop a little tutorial here for anyone who fancied getting crafty but didn’t know where to start to making paper wreaths. I often use my Cricut machine for paper cutting but this week I taught a papercut workshop at a local school and remembered how fun and relaxing it is to actually cut the paper, we also used scissors rather than craft knives and mats.

Seasonal Musings from the Studio - August

This month seems to be passing by so quickly, I’m not sure if it is the heatwave and the days have just merged into one very hot blur or because I’ve been out of the studio on Holiday with friends. At the beginning of the month we went down to Brixham in Devon for a few days, exploring the town, finding secret coves, wild swimming, walking and of course lots of eating and drinking. It was the perfect 4 days of friends & fun and I’d thoroughly recommend Brixham to anyone wanting to explore Devon, we didn’t want to come home…
